UK – The Department for Transport has announced that it will be extending the provision of grants for plug-in electric vans and trucks for two more years, in an effort to boost take up of low- and zero-emission vehicles in the UK. The current scheme was set to end in the financial year of 2022-23.

The government has so far committed GBP2.5bn in grants towards the purchase of low- and zero-emission vehicles and charging infrastructure. From 1 April 2022, business will be supported in buying vans up to 4.25t and trucks over 4.25t with grants of up to GBP5,000 and GBP16,000 respectively. In addition, drivers with standard licences can continue to drive electric goods vans of weights up to 4.25t – 1.75t higher than the standard limit for diesel goods vans – this takes into account the additional weight of electric vehicle batteries and further encouraging uptake.
