Bridgestone pursues chemical recycling technologies

Bridgestone aims to recycle isoprene from used tyres

Japan – Bridgestone Corporation, based in Tokyo, Japan, has launched a joint programme to develop chemical recycling technologies that utilise used tyres to achieve high-yield production of isoprene, a raw material used in synthetic rubber production.

The joint research and development programme is being undertaken with the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology at Tohoku University. The project will receive funding from the Green Innovation Fund, set up by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
