Chile / Brazil - Marcopolo SA of Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil has announced it is delivering a total of 77 electric Marcopolo Senior Charter minibuses to Chile’s Renta Bus Link Services, a bus operator based in Santiago. The chassis, which are designed to carry mine workers to and from large scale opencast mines, are being electrified by local Chilean company, Reborn Electric Motors of Rancagua. Marcopolo and Reborn state that some 20 units have already been delivered to Renta Bus Link.

For the Chilean market, the minibuses have glass fibre sides and a stainless-steel bottom structure to meet the harsh environment in which they will operate. The electric Marcopolo Senior Charter minibus has a capacity for 24 passengers seated in Marcopolo Executive 940 seats. The minibuses are equipped with a Valeo CC175 split air conditioning system with condenser in the rear – a new development for the Senior product line and made especially for Renta Bus (Link), states Marcopolo. All the vehicles are equipped with passenger information display, full HVAC system and three-point seat belts, while  the batteries are housed in the luggage compartment.
