Mercedes-Benz do Brasil and Marcopolo develop high level corrosion-resistant coaches for worker transportation to the mines of Chile

Marcopolo 900 Viaggio coach bodies on Mercedes-Benz chassis

Chile / Brazil – Starting in January this year, Mercedes-Benz do Brasil Ltda of São Bernardo do Campo and Marcopolo SA of Caxias do Sul (and two other Brazilian body builders) have exported a total of 328 coaches and buses to charter fleet operators in Chile for transporting employees of several mining companies. 

Of the 328 coaches, 253 units are based on the Mercedes-Benz O 500 RS 1941 chassis fitted with a 410hp engine and 75 units are built on the Mercedes-Benz O 500 RS 1936 chassis with a 360hp engine. Of the total 328 vehicle order, 223 units are being fitted with specially developed Marcopolo Viaggio 900 bus bodies and the other 105 units are to be fitted with a mix of Irizar and Carbuss bus bodies.
