Proterra to expand operating range of ZX5 electric bus with new battery option

USA – Proterra Inc of Burlingame, California is to expand its ‘ZX5’ range of electric buses by offering a new battery option, a 738-kWh system which will provide a range exceeding 300 miles on a single charge, beginning in 2023.
The larger battery, developed by the Proterra Powered business unit, is to be installed in a 40-foot model dubbed ‘ZX5 Max’. The manufacturer claims that this model will have the largest energy storage of any 40-foot electric bus model on the market in North America.
