Tata Motors wins mega-order for 5,450 e-buses

Tata's 12m electric bus

Mumbai/ New Delhi – Tata Motors Ltd, based in Mumbai, has been announced as the lowest bidder in a mega tender for 5,450 electric buses from Convergence Energy Services (CESL1) under the remodelled FAME II scheme2.

The tender is based on a rate per kilometre with Tata Motors offering the equivalent rate of USD0.57/km for a 12-metre e-bus and USD0.51/km for a 9-metre bus. These rates are 15 per cent lower than other bids for the nine metre buses and some 48 per cent lower than the lowest price bid for the 12m bus!
