Transpotec 2022: The restructure of SAF-Holland’s towing business

|

By Bradley Osborne - 31st May 2022

Italy / GermanyV Orlandi SpA is an Italian manufacturer known for its various components for connecting tractor units to semi-trailers. As it happens, so is its parent company SAF-Holland SE, which acquired Orlandi in 2018. Perhaps it should come as no surprise, then, that SAF-Holland is currently merging Orlandi more closely with its own business operations, with the aim of combining them into a single business unit for towing systems.

Orlandi is based in Flero, near Brescia, where it has two plants. Another plant is based in Singen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Its contribution to SAF-Holland’s business is considerable: its turnover in 2021 was EUR26m, up from EUR21m in 2020 and roughly a fifth of SAF-Holland’s entire turnover of EUR1.1bn. Orlandi has a strong presence in Italy, France, Poland, Australia, New Zealand, and Chile, and it sees strong potential for growth in Germany. No wonder then that Lorenzo Monti, Sales Manager EMEA for Fifth Wheels and Coupling at SAF-Holland, was keen to stress that Orlandi will retain its brand identity, even following its closer integration into SAF-Holland’s towing systems business.
