By Bradley Osborne - 31st May 2022

Australia / UK – On 11 May, Wrightbus of Ballymena, UK announced at ITT Hub in Farnborough that it has signed an agreement with bus and coach builder Volgren1 of Dandenong, Victoria, Australia, which will involve Wrightbus supplying driveline components for fuel-cell electric buses built and sold in Australia.

Wrightbus will provide Volgren with all the necessary components to assemble the powertrain – namely, fuel cells, control systems, auxiliary batteries, hydrogen tanks, chassis, and skid roof (on top of which the components will be mounted) – so they can be integrated into buses built locally in Australia. This will effectively make Wrightbus into a supplier of glider chassis for hydrogen buses to the Australian market.
