Pinnacle Mobility to invest USD260m in new electric bus  manufacturing facilities

Pune - Pinnacle Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd of Pune, a subsidiary of Pinnacle Industries and a new entrant in electric vehicle manufacturing, is investing up to USD261.5m to make 9m and 12m electric buses and electric mini-trucks to cater to the booming last-mile mobility space. Pinnacle has already unveiled and launched its 9m e-bus, while its mini e-truck range and 12m e-bus are undergoing testing. Pinnacle’s timeline for start of production (SOP) and full commercialisation is during 2023 for the 9m e-bus and 2024 for the other models. 

With these investments, the company plans to set up a 5,000-unit electric bus manufacturing facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, and a 15,000-unit plant for the mini e-trucks in Pune. The company plans to hire some 1,000 people to work at the two locations. It plans to design and manufacture a range of electric buses initially between nine and 12 metres in length and mini-trucks in the 1-2 tonne gross weight segment range over the next two years. It is understood that is has some capacity now to build its 9m bus, whereas the 12m bus and mini trucks, as mentioned above, will come on stream, once further testing of the new vehicles is complete.
