Equipmake MD calls for more incentives to accelerate e-bus transition

Ian Foley, Founder and Managing Director of Equipmake

UK – Ian Foley, CEO of Equipmake Ltd, based in Norwich, UK, has welcomed the inclusion of electric buses in new UK operator grants, but calls for more incentives to encourage operators to transition to zero-emission vehicles.

The BSOG (Bus Service Operators Grant) scheme is paid to operators to help recover fuel costs, allowing them to keep fare prices down, while also subsidising community services that would otherwise be unprofitable. Revisions to the scheme have now added support for electric vehicles, including retrofit units, at a rate of GBP0.22 per kilometre.
