Cummins debuts 15-litre hydrogen engine at ACT Expo

Cummins X15H hydrogen internal combustion engine

USA – Cummins Inc, based in Columbus, Indiana, debuted its 15-litre hydrogen internal combustion engine at ACT Expo in Long Beach, California. This hydrogen version of the fuel agnostic platform is expected to enter series production in 2027.

The engine is built on Cummins’ fuel-agnostic platform, where below the head gasket each fuel type’s engine has largely similar components. Above the head gasket, each engine has different components to support the different fuel types. For the hydrogen ICE variant, the company plans on producing 15-litre and 6.7-litre variants.
