India’s LCV’s under 3.5t outperform larger LCVs in 2021/22

India - Sales of LCV trucks with a gvw ≤ 7.5t grew by 15.2% to 456,032 units in financial year ending March 31, 2022 (FY2021/22), from 395,783 units a year earlier. Production of light trucks also increased by 19.4% with exports contributing to output with sales increasing by 87.3% to 58,331 units in 2021/22 from 31,145 units in 2020/21.
GVW ≤ 2t trucks saw domestic sales rise by 22.4% to register 171,461 units in FY 2021-22, up from 140,109 units a year earlier. Exports and production were also up by 47.40% and 23.7% respectively.
