Production and sales of light-duty buses in India rebound in 2021/22

India - Sales of light-duty passenger vehicles (7.5 tons and below) rose in the FY2021-22 by 65.1% to 19,957 from 12,088 in the previous fiscal year. Export sales witnessed growth of 8.8% and production increased by 42.1%.

In the minibus segment with seats more than 13 seats (GVW ≤ 5 tons & no. of seats > 13) increased by 64.9% to 6,942 units in the FY2021-22, up from 4,209 units in FY2020-21. Exports dropped by 6.5% but production reflected high demand in India increasing by 64.7%.
