USALightning eMotors Inc, an electric vehicle retrofitter and manufacturer based in Loveland, Colorado, has announced a partnership with AI company Perrone Robotics of Crozet, Virginia to provide customers with Class 3-7 commercial vehicles equipped with varying levels of autonomy.

Lightning eMotors vehicles will be fitted with Perrone Robotics’ vehicle-independent retrofit kit called ‘TONY’, which is equipped with autonomous driving software for transporting people and goods. Vehicles will be offered with Level 2 autonomy – that is to say, manually-controlled vehicles with advanced driver assistance features (such as adaptive cruise control) – and Level 4 autonomy, which can operate in geofenced locations such as campuses and logistics yards without driver supervision.
