UK government funding GBP40m autonomous vehicle competition

CCAV £40 million funding for autonomous vehicles

UK – Overseen by the Centre for Connected an Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV), a joint unit of the Department for Transport (DfT) and Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), the UK government is opening a GBP41.5m competition to fund projects that will autonomous commercial vehicles to market. CCAV will fund up to 50% of the project costs after estimates showed that the autonomous vehicle market could be worth GBP42 billion to the UK economy as soon as 2035.

Types of self-driving vehicles that could be deployed include delivery vans, passenger buses, shuttles and pods, as well as vehicles that move people and luggage at airports and containers at shipping ports.
