IVECO BUS announces plans to restart bus production in Italy

FPT Industrial's Turin plant

Italy – Turin, Italy-based Iveco Group NV has announced it intends to resume bus production in Italy. The firm intends to assemble hydrogen fuel cell and battery-electric buses at the Iveco plant in Foggia, southern Italy, with alternative propulsion systems produced in Turin. Research, development, and manufacture of batteries and low emission engines will be the responsibility of FPT Industrial.

The announcement is subject to the acceptance of an application that has been made for a Development Contract from the Ministry of Economic Development as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). If all goes well, the firm hopes to begin operations later in 2022 with the goal of producing the first buses in spring 2023.
