Wrightbus secures first major European order for hydrogen buses

UK / Germany – Bus and coach manufacturer Wrightbus of Ballymena, UK has announced its first major European order for its single deck hydrogen buses, following an agreement signed with bus operator Regionalverkehr Köln GmbH for up to 60 units to be supplied over the next two years. 

The Kite Hydroliner single deck buses, which will serve the city of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, will be the first integral left-hand drive vehicles that Wrightbus has made and exported since the firm was bought out of administration in 2019. The Northern Irish firm’s customer already operates 52 hydrogen buses of varying types as part of its fleet.
