Mercedes-Benz do Brasil starts supplies of CKD bus chassis to THACO in Vietnam

THACO CV plant in Vietnam

Brazil / Vietnam - The end of May saw Daimler Buses and Truong Hai Auto Corporation (THACO) of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam launch two coach models for long distance passenger  transport on the Vietnamese market. These are the 120S Seater Bus (conventional seats) and 120 SL Sleeper Bus (bed) models, the bodies of which are built by THACO on the Mercedes-Benz O 500 chassis produced by Mercedes-Benz do Brasil Ltda in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo.

This arrangement between Daimler Buses and THACO stems from an agreement in June 2020 formally announcing their partnership. Covid19 delayed the actioning of this new partnership by some two years. In July 2020, Daimler Buses, as part of its previously announced strategic goal of expanding sales in Southeast Asia, had appointed local automobile manufacturer and dealer, Truong Hai Auto Corporation (THACO) of Ho Cho Min City as its general distributor for Daimler Buses in Vietnam.
