Meritor releases its first independent front suspension for coaches

The ProTec Independent Front Suspension by Meritor

USAMeritor Inc of Troy, Michigan has launched a new range of independent front suspensions, the first it has designed specifically for the ride quality and heavy load requirements of coaches.

The ‘ProTec Independent Front Suspension’ (IFS) has a gross axle weight rating of up to 20,000 lbs and twin tube performance dampers for greater control and comfort. It is heavily based on the ProTec suspension products Meritor supplies to the defence industry; it is fitted with the same bevel-gear hub wheel-ends featured on the U.S. military’s Joint Light Tactical Vehicle. The IFS “will deliver the same level of confidence, performance and reliability for the bus and coach industry that military operators have realized from our ProTec solutions over the last two decades,” stated Christina Simon, senior director of Industrial Product Development at Meritor.
