Turkey - By the end of this year, bus and truck builder, Otokar expects to employ more than 3,000 people at its manufacturing plant in Sakarya, Turkey; an increase of some 50% compared with 1,966 people employed at the end of 2021, according to Kerem Erman, Assistant General Manager Commercial Vehicles at Otokar in an interview with Truck & Bus Builder ahead of Busworld Turkey in June.

This increase in staff is to meet rising output at the plant and reflects, Erman said, the contract manufacturing agreement signed in 2020 with Iveco Bus to manufacture the interurban Euro 6E buses (Iveco Crossway) and starting shortly, manufacture of the new Streetway diesel city bus.
