CanadaPrevost, a subsidiary of Volvo Buses based in Sainte-Claire, Quebec, announced in April that it will be developing a new all-electric coach, as well as a retrofit kit for converting diesel coaches to electric, with the support of funds from the state government.

The Government of Quebec, through its investment firm Investissement Québec, will issue a forgivable loan of CAD15.15m to Prevost. In addition, the Ministry of Environment of Quebec will contribute a non-repayable grant of CAD7.5m to the project. Prevost claims that a total of 115 new jobs will be created for the project, which will be carried out over the next five years. The company is aiming to build a coach with a range of 400 km.
