Netherlands / Austria – Earlier in the month of July, DAF Trucks NV of Eindhoven, Netherlands announced that a CF Electric with a gross combined weight of 26 tonnes successfully traversed part of Austria’s highest mountain road, becoming the very first fully-electric truck to do so.

The route in question is a 48-kilometre stretch between the city of Salzburg in the northern foothills of the Alps and the lookout point of Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe, lying at 2369 metres above sea level. The CF Electric truck drove part of the way along the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, the highest surfaced mountain pass in Austria. It navigated 36 hairpin bends and inclines of 12%.
