GermanySchmitz Cargobull AG, a manufacturer of semi-trailers and truck bodies based in Horstmar, North Rhine-Westphalia, has announced a partnership with logistics software firm Transporeon GmbH of Ulm, Baden-Württemberg to allow access to Transporeon’s data management and sharing platform through Schmitz Cargobull’s trailer telematics software.

New Schmitz Cargobull trailers are fitted with ‘TrailerConnect’ telematics systems as standard, allowing access to a cloud-based portal and data management centre. Through these, customers have access to a range of analytical and optimisation tools. Now, Schmitz customers will have the option of sharing their trailer data to Transporeon’s ‘Visibility Hub’, a tool which can provide real-time information on the location of trailers and goods on the road. Freight forwarders and carriers can use the Visibility Hub to share data over a protected network to specific customers at their request. The scope and type of data that can be shared is controlled by the user. Data recipients can use the Visibility Hub to predict ETAs, measure carbon emissions, and improve freight matching.
