Hankook unveils hot retreading factory for commercial vehicle tyres at Hammelburg, Germany

Hankook facility in Hammelburg, Germany

South Korea / Germany – In June, Hankook Tire & Technology of Seongnam-si, South Korea showcased its hot retreading factory in Hammelburg, Bavaria, Germany to invited guests for the first time, following years of investment into more sustainable tyre (re)manufacturing practices.

The new hot retreading production area takes up around 2,000m2 of the 15,000m2 site in Hammelburg, which Hankook acquired in 2018 when it took over tyre distributor Reifen Müller GmbH & Co KG. Prior to Hankook’s acquisition, Reifen Müller carried out tyre retreading under its subsidiary, Reifen Müller GmbH & Co Runderneuerungswerk KG. Since then, Hankook has reportedly invested money running into the “high millions” to expand the retreading business.
