DAF introduces new ‘Night Lock’ for next-generation trucks

Night Lock for new-generation DAF trucks

NetherlandsDAF Trucks NV, a subsidiary of PACCAR Inc based in Eindhoven, Netherlands, has released a new mechanical ‘Night Lock’ for the cab doors, provided as an option for the new generation of XF, XG, and XG+ trucks or available as a retrofit for older models.

The Night Lock is integrated in the door panel and makes use of both the handrail and the robust structure of the door to provide extra strength – it is 150% stronger than comparable products on the market, according to DAF. The lock consists of a steel panel and a rocker switch. When activated, the panel slides down to connect with the handrail, blocking the door and preventing entry to the cab. A red indicator lights up to show when the lock is activated. It can be easily disengaged with a single press of the rocker switch. DAF claims that doors fitted with the Night Lock cannot be broken open even with a crowbar.
