Toyota, Hino and Isuzu to launch joint fuel cell light truck in 2023

Japan - Toyota Motor Corporation of Toyota, Toyota subsidiary, Hino Motors Ltd of Hino-Shi, and Isuzu Motors Ltd in July announced plans to jointly develop hydrogen fuel cell-powered light trucks for the mass market through their research joint venture Commercial Japan Partnership Technologies Corporation (CJPT), which was established last year to “help address various challenges facing the transportation industry as well as contribute to the achievement of a carbon-neutral society.”  

Hydrogen fuel cells are seen as one of several low and zero emission technology solutions to achieving carbon neutrality in road transport, along with other solutions, “depending on the energy conditions and how customers use their vehicles in the various markets around the world”.
