Brazil / China - TEVX Higer is the abbreviated name of a joint venture company being formed by Chinese bus builder, Higer Bus Co Ltd of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, and local company in Brazil, TEVX Motors Group Ltd to make city buses in Brazil. This follows a memorandum of intent – signed in July - with the State government of Ceará to establish a bus factory in the major trading port of Pecém. (The port of Pecém is located about fifty kilometres from Fortaleza, the capital city of the state of Ceará. The state of Ceara is in the northeast of Brazil and is more than three times larger than the Netherlands).
The project is to benefit from investments of USD20 million on an assembly line for electric buses that are to be imported from China semi-assembled for final assembly in Pecém, Brazil. The Higer 12m electric city bus model (Azure A12 BR see below), has already been fully adapted to meet Brazil’s technical standards, says the company. It consists of a fully integral bus body structure or shell, which will be built at Higer’s factory in Suzhou and thereafter, exported from China to Brazil, where body components such as windows and seats as well as the driveline, will be installed at the new Pecém assembly plant.
