Navistar unveils new integrated powertrain for International trucks

The International S13 Integrated Powertrain

USANavistar International Corporation of Lisle, Illinois unveiled a new diesel powertrain at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on 16 August which is based on parent company Traton Group’s upcoming Common Base Engine for heavy vehicles.

The ‘International S13 Integrated Powertrain’, comprising engine, transmission and aftertreatment system, will provide “superior operating economy, stellar performance, and simplicity and serviceability” to the North American market, according to Navistar. CEO Mathias Carlbaum claims it is the “most efficient powertrain” that Navistar has ever produced, improving the fuel economy by up to 15% when integrated with the aerodynamic enhancements brought by the updated LT series of long-haul trucks.
