Switch Mobility unveils electric double-decker for the Indian market

The EiV22 by Switch Mobility

India / UKSwitch Mobility Ltd, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland based in Sherburn in Elmet, UK, has unveiled a battery-electric double-decker bus which it claims will be the very first to operate in India.

The ‘EiV 22’ is based on the same electric vehicle platform as the single-deck EiV 12 and e1 launched for the Indian and European markets respectively. The electric motor provides a peak power output of 235 kW and maximum torque of 3,100 Nm. The nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery has a capacity of 231 kWh, providing a range of up to 250 km on a single charge. The double decker has a lightweight aluminium body, offering a higher passenger to weight ratio – its seating capacity is 65.
