USA / CanadaNova Bus Inc, a subsidiary of the Volvo Group based in Saint-Eustache, Quebec, Canada, has announced that its ‘LFSe+’ range of battery-electric buses has successfully completed the so-called ‘Altoona’ test for certifying bus safety and efficiency in the USA.

The Bus Testing Program is operated by the Federal Transit Administration at the Bus Research and Testing Center, a facility which is located in Altoona and is part of the Pennsylvania State University. The granting of federal subsidies for acquiring or leasing buses is contingent upon successful completion of the Altoona test, which evaluates the vehicle’s safety, structural integrity, durability, performance, noise, fuel economy, and emissions. In addition, some Canadian customers stipulate Altoona-test certification as a contractual criterion.
