Harbinger Motors and Kalyani Powertrain establish EV joint venture in India

USA / India – Harbinger Motors Inc of Gardena, California, USA has entered into a joint venture with Kalyani Powertrain Ltd (KPTL), an electrification specialist based in Pune, Maharashtra, India, for the development of commercial electric vehicle powertrains.
KPTL, a subsidiary of Bharat Forge, operates a facility in Pune, where the new joint venture, called ‘ElectroForge’, will begin developing high-power, low-mass drivetrains. According to a joint press release, these will incorporate a “revolutionary new architecture” which will be tailored to the durability and performance requirements of commercial vehicles (Classes 3-8). Moreover, the joint-venture production line will supply electric powertrains in volume to Harbinger for its product applications. Both companies anticipate that ElectroForge’s activities will expand worldwide following its initial launch.
