MCI unveils battery-electric D45 CRT coach

The D45 CRT CHARGE by MCI

USAMotor Coach Industries (MCI), a subsidiary of the NFI Group based in Des Plaines, Illinois, has unveiled a new range of battery-electric coaches based on the high-floor model of its D45 CRT (Commuter Rapid Transit) series. 

The ‘D45 CRT CHARGE’ is fitted with a Siemens electric drive system providing a power rating of 320 kW and peak torque of 3320 ft-lbs and up to 90% energy recovery through regenerative braking. The NMC batteries – supplied by XALT Energy – have a capacity of 520 kWh, providing a range of over 225 miles and charging in under four hours.
