Plastic Omnium to supply Safra with hydrogen tanks and fuel cells

France – The Safra Group of Albi, France has announced that Compagnie Plastic Omnium SA (“Plastic Omnium”) of Levallois will be supplying hydrogen tanks and fuel cell stacks to support Safra’s development of its fuel cell electric buses and its hydrogen retrofit kits. 

At the European Mobility Expo in Paris between 7-9 June, Safra debuted its 12-metre ‘Hycity’ fuel cell electric bus, powered by two 125-kW electric axles and a 45-kW fuel cell supplied by Symbio. From 2023, Plastic Omnium will supply Safra with type IV 350-bar hydrogen tanks made from plastic encased in carbon fibre. In addition, Plastic Omnium will provide both tanks and 70-kW fuel cell systems for Safra’s ‘H2-pack’ retrofit kit for converting diesel coaches to electric.
