Scania supplies 64-tonne electric truck for coal by-product transportation

64-tonne electric truck made by Scania for Foria

SwedenScania AB of Södertälje, Sweden has announced it has put a battery-electric truck capable of handling 64-tonne loads on the road with logistics firm Foria AB (also based in Södertälje) to transport fly ashes. This marks the third trial of a 64-tonne electric truck by Scania, following the first with chemical supplier Wibax and the second with refrigerated goods transporter Dagab

Foria will use the truck to transport fly ashes – a by-product of coal combustion – from a thermal power station in Mälardalen to a new recycling facility in Högbytorp operated by Ragn-Sells AB. The truck will work two shifts per day, recharging at both ends of the journey using 160-kW fast chargers supplied by ABB
