Iveco launches 18m long Hybrid CNG bus at Autocar Expo

Iveco Bus URBANWAY Hybrid battery electric and gas hybrid articulated bus

Italy / France - Iveco Group of Turin, Italy, through its brand Iveco Bus, has officially unveiled a new articulated, biomethane compatible 18m long Urbanway Hybrid compressed natural gas (CNG) bus at the past Autocar Expo in Lyon, France.

With deliveries beginning at the end of the year, the bus features an electric drivetrain developed with Voith, delivering a reduction in energy costs and CO2 emissions compared with previous generations. The Urbanway includes a 48 V battery coupled to the DIWA NXT gearbox and the FPT Industrial Cursor 9 engine, supported by a powerful 35 kW peak electrical recovery motor, which acts as a starter and generator to recover the kinetic energy accumulated during deceleration and braking. The new vehicle is also available in a Bus Rapid Transit system (BRT version) under the name Crealis.
