Spain / USA New Power, a division of drivetrain manufacturer, Cummins Inc of Columbus, Indiana, USA, together with international energy producer, Iberdrola SA of Bilbao, Spain, plans to start building a new 20,000 square metre megawatt electrolyser manufacturing plant in Guadalajara, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain later this year. Construction of the plant is scheduled for completion by the end of 2023.

The purpose of the plant is to manufacture PEM electrolysers for use in the production of green hydrogen in-line with Cummins commitment to expand the green hydrogen economy in Europe. The facility will house system assembly and testing and have the capacity initially to produce up to 500MW of electrolysers per year, but scalable to more than 1GW per year.
