Detroit’s new Active Side Guard Assist technology now available in North America

Detroit Active Side Guard Assist (ASGA) technology

USA Detroit, a brand of Detroit Diesel Corporation, which is a subsidiary of Daimler Truck North America LLC, based in Detroit Michigan, says it has started production of its Active Side Guard Assist (ASGA) technology to reduce the risk of a collision with pedestrians or other road users by truck and bus operators when turning. ASGA detects moving objects using radar and camera technology and automatically applies the brakes, drastically improving driver safety. Detroit claim that this detection technology applied to Active Brake Assist 5 (ABA 5), is the first in the industry.

ASGA builds on the previous Side Guard Assist launched in 2020, which did not use active brake assist, rather warned the driver of nearby moving objects only through audio and visual indicators.
