CanadaVicinity Motor Corp of Aldergrove, British Columbia announced in October that it received an order for 1,000 Class 3 electric trucks, collectively worth more than USD100m, from Pioneer Auto Group, its exclusive dealer in the province of British Columbia.

The purchase order for Vicinity Motor’s ‘VMC 1200’ range follows a 100-unit order from Pioneer earlier this year. The manufacturer aims to deliver every vehicle by the end of 2023. Initially, production will take place in Canada, before moving to a new facility in Ferndale, Washington, USA. In a November announcement, Vicinity Motor stated that it will begin production at the site in the first quarter of 2023. Capacity will reach up to 10,000 trucks per year, a significant expansion from its current capacity of approximately 600 per year in Aldergrove. The company says it is seeking certification for the site as a Free Trade Zone, which will make exporting vehicles to Canada easier and cheaper.
