Ballard and Fusion Fuel open a hydrogen power plant in Portugal

The H2Évora project in Portugal

Portugal / Ireland / Canada – Ballard Power Systems Inc, a manufacturer of fuel cell systems based in Burnaby, British Columbia, and green hydrogen equipment manufacturer, Fusion Fuel Green PLC, which has its headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, have opened the H2Évora green hydrogen plant in Evora, Portugal. Comprising 15 HEVO-Solar* units, the plant will produce up to 15 tons of green hydrogen per year, saving 135 tons of CO2 annually.

Ballard supplied the 200-kilowatt FCwaveTM fuel cell module responsible for converting green hydrogen into electricity, enabling Fusion Fuel to put power back onto the electric grid. The generators combine miniaturised proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysers fixed to the back of high-efficiency concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) panels.
