Ashok Leyland now able to offer heavy-duty LNG trucks following full CMVR certification from ARAI

Ashok Leyland's and India's first LNG-fuelled truck with CMVR certification

India – Truck builder, Ashok Leyland Ltd of Chennai, has announced it has received its first Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) certificate for its first LNG-fuelled truck, the AVTR UF3522 and other model variants from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). Over the next six months, Ashok Leyland said it plans to launch a full range of LNG trucks in haulage, tipper and tractor models. (Ashok Leyland already offers CNG-powered trucks, the Ecomet 1415HE CNG and the Ecomet 1615HE CNG).

Of the AVTR modular platform, Ashok Leyland says the AVTR UF3522, which is its first model has a 35t gvw weight and is powered by the new H Series engine, which has a maximum output of 220 hp and torque is 700 Nm, thereby retaining the torque of a diesel engine.
