Continental expands Romanian plant

Romania / Germany – November saw Continental AG of Hanover open its expanded electronic components factory in Timisoara, Romania, primarily responsible for producing large displays for commercial vehicles. Costing EUR40m, the production area has grown from 7,000 to 18,000 square metres to fulfil EUR2 billion worth of new contracts from vehicle manufacturers. The factory has an output of 17 million products per year, including airbag control units, electronic parking brakes, control units for air suspension, damping and vertical stabilisation, power steering control units, display screens and head-up displays.

According to the company, the factory will be responsible for the production of large display screens requiring bundled production volumes to increase quality and speed.
