Solaris receives order for up to 52 electric buses from Latvian capital

Poland / Latvia – Solaris Bus & Coach sp. z o.o. of Bolechowo, Poland has signed a EUR19m contract to supply 35 battery-electric buses to Rīgas Satiksme, an operator serving the city of Riga in Latvia. The contract provides the option to order an additional 17 units.
The contract is for Solaris’s ‘Urbino 12 electric’ range, installed with Solaris High Energy batteries with a 140-kWh capacity and recharged by plug-in connectors and an inverted pantograph. These will be the first Solaris electric buses to be delivered to the Latvian capital; six vehicles are reportedly in operation already in Jūrmala and Jelgava. The firm order for 35 buses is set to be fulfilled by the end of 2023.
