Enedym partners with Toyota Tsusho Canada to retrofit tuggers

Enedym and Toyota strategic partnership

Canada – Ontario-based, Enedym Inc, which produces switched reluctance motors (SRMs), electric propulsion and electrified powertrains has announced a strategic partnership with Toyota Tsusho Canada Inc (a subsidiary of the Toyota Motor Corporation) to retrofit tuggers (small haulage trucks) used at Toyota’s facilities in North America and Japan with Enedym’s 45kW magnet-free electric motors. By converting its diesel fuel tuggers to battery or hydrogen power, fits with Toyota’s strategy to reduce operational carbon emissions. The pilot project will commence at one of Toyota Motor’s manufacturing plants in North America in early 2023, and this will involve testing an electric-powered commercial tugger.
