USAPerrone Robotics Inc of Crozet, Virginia has announced that it will be retrofitting a shuttle bus with its autonomous driving technology for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (“Houston METRO”), which plans to run transportation services in the Greater Third Ward of Houston, Texas.

The vehicle in question is a ‘Zeus 400’ electric shuttle bus model supplied by Phoenix Motorcars. Perrone will retrofit the bus with its ‘TONY’ autonomous driving kit, which will provide it with Level 4 autonomy. The bus is accessible to disabled passengers. It will operate in the Third Ward and on the campuses of Texas Southern University and the University of Houston.
