MCI delivers first J4500 CHARGE electric coaches

The J4500 CHARGE by MCI

USAMotor Coach Industries (MCI), a subsidiary of the NFI Group based in Des Plaines, Illinois, announced in December that it made its first delivery of the new ‘J4500 CHARGE’ range of battery-electric coaches, fulfilling an order placed by an operator in California.

The J4500 CHARGE range of 45-foot coaches, based on the J-series of long-distance tour and charter luxury coaches, was launched in May 2021. It carries up to 56 passengers and provides a range of up to 370 km, with a full recharge possible in under four hours. It is powered by a Siemens electric motor rated at 260 kW and a 544-kWh battery system by XALT Energy MI LLC of Midland, Michigan, USA.
