BorgWarner to open battery manufacturing facility in Brazil

Brazil / USA – CV powertrain components giant, BorgWarner Inc of Auburn Hills, Michigan, USA, has announced a new battery and battery systems manufacturing facility in Piracicaba, Sao Paulo is on schedule to open in Q1, 2023. Ultra-high energy (UHE) battery packs (AKASystem AKM CYC) are to be built for supplying the markets in South America.
Following the company’s purchase of German battery manufacturer, AKASOL AG, late last year, this is the next stage of BorgWarner’s planned expansion of its industrial and commercial vehicle electrification capabilities, positioning itself as the leader in the battery systems supply chain.
