Stellantis establishes data-as-a-service business unit

NetherlandsStellantis NV, an automotive corporation based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, has announced the establishment of a new independent business unit dedicated to processing data collected from Stellantis vehicles and providing it to third parties such as government, utility companies, and research institutions. 

‘Mobilisights’ will have exclusive access to data taken from connected vehicles sold under the group’s many brands.1 Stellantis predicts that, by 2030, it will have 34 million such vehicles on the road, including passenger cars and light commercial vehicles; furthermore, it believes that licensing vehicle and related data to other parties could generate substantial revenue.
