Production begins at Proterra’s plant in South Carolina

USA – On 12 January, Proterra Inc of Burlingame, California celebrated the production of the first electric vehicle battery pack at its facility in Greer, South Carolina, marking the beginning of series production at its newly opened battery plant.
Proterra announced in 2021 that it would build a 327,000-sq-ft factory near its electric bus manufacturing operations in Greenville, South Carolina. That site is now open and is producing not only batteries but drivetrains and other “ancillary equipment” such as high voltage junction boxes. Deliveries of EV battery packs to customers are set to begin imminently.
