Plug Power opens fuel cell manufactory in New York state

Ribbon cutting ceremony at new Plug Power facility in Slingerlands, New York

USAPlug Power Inc of Latham, New York hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at its new fuel cell manufactory in Slingerlands, New York on 12 January, where it will produce fuel cell systems for commercial vehicles from March 2023.

The 407,000-sq-ft facility, referred to as the ‘Plug Vista’ facility, reportedly features advanced automation, allowing for greatly increased scale and efficiency in the assembly of fuel cell systems for various applications. (However, Plug Power has not disclosed the facility’s production capacity.) Small-scale production of ‘GenDrive’ systems for forklift trucks began in November 2022. Once the facility becomes fully operational in March, units for stationary power and ‘ProGen’ systems for medium- to heavy-duty trucks will enter production.
