Lightning eMotors passenger electric van gains Altoona accreditation

Lightning ZEV3 electric passenger van

USA – Lightning eMotors Inc, an electric vehicle retrofitter and manufacturer based in Loveland, Colorado, has announced that its Lightning ZEV3 e-van received the American Federal Transit Administration’s Altoona testing certification, the first of its kind to receive this accreditation.

The range of tests include maintainability, reliability, range, efficiency, safety, performance, structural integrity, and noise. Once the vehicle passes these standardised tests, it can qualify for purchase or lease with grants from federal and state governments in the U.S.A., as part of the FTA’s USD4 billion Low and No Emissions Grant program, subsidising fleet operators transition to zero-emissions. The batteries allow for 200 miles (321 km) of range with both Level 2 AC charging and DC Fast Charge capabilities.
